Oxford trip

Hi, everyone!  I hope you all have had fantastic weekends so far!  To my friends on spring break, I hope you are catching up on sleep and enjoying your time off :)

Yesterday I made a day trip to Oxford (mostly on a whim).  It turned out to be a fantastic place to visit!  It also turned out to be a long day, which is why I am writing this blog now instead of last night.  I left my flat at 7 a.m. in order to make it to the bus stop at Singleton Hospital to catch the bus at 7:45.  I must have walked rather fast because I ended up catching the 7:30 bus and making it to the train station with plenty of time!  The train ride went rather quickly; I only had one switch, and that went extremely smoothly.  When I got to Oxford (around 11:15), Curtis was waiting at the rail station.  His school had a trip for international students, which worked out perfectly!  We first checked out the Bate Collection of Musical Instruments.  I was most excited about the bass sax there.

The next place we visited was the Christ Church College of Oxford University.  Oxford is made up of 38 colleges (I did not know that before I went), and Christ Church is one of the largest.  On Thursday night, I watched Brideshead Revisited, which shows this college is some of the scenes.  This college is also seen in Harry Potter, which is why I often felt like I was at Hogwarts! :)  The college was absolutely beautiful, and we were fortunate to have a sunny day to sightsee.

We continued to check out more of Oxford; here are some of my favorite pictures!
Radcliffe Camera
Sheldonian Theatre

Sheldonian Theatre- note the strange face statues

Lincoln College

So many people!
We ate lunch at Turf Tavern; it was so delicious!  Fortunately the weather was nice, so we were able to eat outside.  We had to go through alleyways (in a way) to get there, and it was most definitely worth it!
Me headed to the tavern
Our food- delicious!

After lunch, we did more wandering before heading back to our universities.  I managed to snap a few more pictures (which I really like), so I apologize about the picture-heavy post!

My favorite photo from the day

Street performers- look closely :)

Bicycles at the rail station
Now I get to rest up a bit before the Student Union trip to Dublin; we leave at 11:30 pm on Tuesday night and get back at 3:30 am on Sunday morning.  I cannot wait!  :)
